English Translation:

The rupee shot up by 12 paise against the dollar on July 14. The rupee opened at 48.83 and strengthened to touch an intra-day high of 48.76 and it later weakened to close at 48.96, as against the previous close of 49.08/10. In the overseas markets, the dollar weakened against other major currencies. In the forward premia market, the six month closed at 2.34 per cent (2.32 per cent) while the one-year closed at 2.18 per cent (2.25 per cent).
