Due to fresh inflow of overseas funds amid rising domestic equity market, the rupee appreciated against the dollar by 11 paise to 46.39 on the forex market. However, at the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market, the rupee appreciated by 11 paise to 46.39 a dollar. The rupee had ended lower by 2 paise at 46.50/51 on Thursday while the financial market was closed on Friday for Mahashivratri. Meanwhile, inflow of overseas funds following a rise in domestic equity market mainly influenced the trading sentiment. On the other hand, the BSE benchmark Sensex was up 74.45 points, or 0.46% to 16,227.04 points in early trade.
