बुधवार को, संसद ने कर्मचारियों के लिए ग्रेच्युटी सीमा वर्तमान के 3.5 लाख से 10 लाख रुपए बढ़ाने की मंजूरी दे दी। उस पर आय कर की छूट की सीमा में भी वृद्धि हुई। उपदान का भुगतान(संशोधन) 2010 विधेयक, जो लोक सभा द्वारा सोमवार को पारित किया गया था बुधवार को ऊपरी सदन ने मंजूरी दे दी। विधेयक पर चर्चा का जवाब देते हुए, मल्लिकार्जुन, श्रम और रोजगार मंत्री ने कहा कि विधायी उपाय ने भी पहले के 3.5 लाख से 10 लाख तक आयकर छूट की सीमा को उठाया। खरगे ने कहा कि सरकार कर्मचारियों के कल्याण के बारे में चिंतित है। लेकिन वहाँ एक संतुलन होना चाहिए, उद्योग और इसके कर्मचारियों के बीच जो काम करते हैं। वर्तमान में, हम इस स्थिति में नहीं हैं कि उपदान लाभ पूर्वव्यापी प्रभाव के साथ लागु करे।
English Translation:
On Wednesday, Parliament gave approval for raising the gratuity limit for employees to Rs 10 lakh from Rs 3.5 lakh at present. It also increased the exemption threshold from income tax on it. The Payment of Gratuity (Amendment) Bill 2010 which was passed by the Lok Sabha on Monday was approved by the upper house on Wednesday. Responding to a discussion on the bill, Mallikarjun Kharge, Union Minister of Labour and Employment said that the legislative measure has also raised the income tax exemption limit from Rs 3.5 lakh earlier to Rs 10 lakh. Kharge said, "The government is concerned about workers'' welfare. But there has to be a balancing act between an industry and its employees. At present, we are not in a position to apply the gratuity benefit with retrospective effect".
