The markets today opened marginally higher but suddenly turned choppy, as investors booked some profits after a strong rally yesterday. The Realty, Metal, Capital Goods and Auto stocks are in demand in the early trade. However, IT, FMCG and Oil & Gas stocks are witnessing some selling pressure in the opening trade. The broader indices are however attracting buying interest today as both the BSE Mid Cap and the BSE Small Cap index are trading with a gain of more than 1% each.
The BSE Sensex is now trading below the 12,100 mark and the NSE Nifty below the 3,650 mark in the early trade.
The BSE Sensex was down by 54.71 points at 12,080.04 and the Nifty was down by 14.95 points to 3,639.05.
The BSE Mid Cap increased by 51.20 points to 3,702.49 and the BSE Small Cap grew by 46.82 points to 4,128.52.
The overall market breadth is positive as 887 stocks are advancing while 583 stocks are declining on BSE.
