Gems, jewellery sector seeks Budget sops : रत्न, आभूषण क्षेत्र के बजट में रियायत चाहता है : 24th February

वैश्विक संकट के उसपर, भारतीय रत्न और आभूषण उद्योग ज़यादा पिछले 18 महीने में अपनी चमक खो दी है। हालांकि, पहले, करीब एक साल पहले, आभूषण व्यापार समृद्ध था पर संकट ने उसपर ज़यादा मारा है। वीर रत्न के मौलिं शाह ने कहा कि उन्हें सच में उम्मीद नहीं की थी कि स्थिति खराब है लेकिन दुर्भाग्य से सभी के लिए यह एक बुरी स्थिति हो जाएगी। सितम्बर 2008 से मार्च 2,009 के बीच, 70 लोगो ने आत्महत्या की और 4 लाख से अधिक लोगों ने अपनी नौकरी खो दी। इस बीच, हजारों परिवार सूरत भाग गए और लघु तथा मझौले उद्योगों के 30% ने दुकाने बंद कर दी। लेकिन, यह तो बचाव के लिए सरकार थी, निर्यातकों के लिए एक 2% ब्याज आर्थिक सहायता योजना के रूप में एक प्रोत्साहन पैकेज के साथ निर्यातको को योजना दी। और अब यह क्षेत्र फिर से घरेलू बाजार में मांग उठाई और मध्य पूर्व में नए अवसरों की वजह से फलफूल रहा है। कई आभूषण निर्माता अभिनव डिजाइन प्रदर्शित करने की योजना बना रहे थे और सबसे बड़ा आभूषण शो में अभिनव दिखाना चाहते है, जोकि 5-9 मार्च से हांगकांग में शुरू होने वाला है। आंकड़ो से पता चलता है कि सोने के गहने मे साल मे कुल निर्यात मे 36,471 करोड़ रुपए पर 8.73 फीसदी वृद्धि हुई है।

Due to the global crisis, the Indian gems and jewellery industry has lost its shine over the last 18 months. However, previously, around a year ago, the jewellery business was flourishing but the crisis has hit hard on it. Maulin Shah of Veer Gems stated that he really did not expect that the situation will be that bad but unfortunately for everyone it was a bad situation. Between September 2008 to March 2009, 70 people committed suicide and over 4 lakh people lost their jobs. Meanwhile, thousands of families fled Surat and 30% of the SMEs had to shut shop. But, then it was the government to the rescue, with a stimulus package in the form of a 2% interest subvention scheme for exporters. And now the sector is booming again due to the raised demand in the domestic market and newer opportunities in the Middle East. Many jewellery makers were planning to showcase innovative designs and cuts in one of the largest jewellery shows in Asia, which is scheduled to commence from March 5-9 in Hong Kong. The total exports of gold jewellery surged by 8.73 per cent on year to stood at Rs 36,471 crore, the data showed.
