Except for the Storage room, rest of the factory building is not damaged. The cause of the fire is being determined. Further, there was no injuries consequent to this fire. The facility is adequately insured and no significant loss in revenue is expected. Akzo Nobel India (formerly ICI India) is engaged in manufacturing and marketing of paints, speciality chemicals, adhesives and starch. The company's origin goes way back in 1926 when Brunner Mond & Co, one of the four companies was combined to form ICI in UK. This company operated as a trading office in Calcutta to sell alkalis and dyes.

Consequently, the company’s total customer base plunged to 5.31 million from 5.48 million in April.  Besides, Bharti Airtel has added 2.01 million subscribers in May while, Idea Cellular has added 1.75 million mobile subscribers in May.

Telecom major Bharti Airtel is in advance talks with Chinese Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEMs) to bring 'mifi' devices that will help people in India to access fourth generation (4G) services from their 3G smart phones. A tiny, battery-operated, wireless device about half the size of a cellphone, a mifi is easy to carry and can help a user hook on to a 4G network through the wi-fi feature in 3G phone.

Since a mifi device can also provide 4G connectivity from a tablet, it is likely to be positioned as a mass-market tool by Bharti to price open the relatively underpenetrated tablet market, which can complement its small-screen 3G offerings.

In view of the infrastructure congestion at Gurgaon where Maruti Suzuki had set up its first plant, the company had expressed its intention to set up a new plant in Gujarat. The first phase of the plant would come up on 600 acres of land provided by the Gujarat government. The second phase would come up on another 600 acres to be purchased by the company.

The company will raise most of these funds through bonds. The housing finance firm raises money from banks and also from markets by issuing bonds. The ratio of money raised through bonds is around 65% of the total fund raised by the company. LIC Housing Finance had reported a 43% growth in net profit at Rs 305.69 crore in the December quarter on an income of Rs 1,593 crore.
