मोंटेक सिंह अहलूवालिया, योजना आयोग के उपाध्यक्ष ने कहा कि भारत की खाद्य और समग्र मुद्रास्फीति की दर अगले दो महीनों में आसान होगी। उन्होंने कहा कि उन्हें नहीं लगता कि मार्च अंत तक मुद्रास्फीति अनुमानों से खतरा है। लेकिन, उन्हें भोजन और समग्र मुद्रास्फीति की अगले दो महीनों में नीचे प्रवृत्ति की उम्मीद है। इससे पहले, सरकार ने कहा कि कर 2010-11 के लिए अपने बजट में वित्त मंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी द्वारा पेश प्रस्ताव में मामूली मुद्रास्फीति को प्रोत्साहित करेंगे। लेकिन, यह ब्याज दरों पर कोई दबाव नहीं डालेगा। वित्त मंत्री ने कहा कि 27 फरवरी से पेट्रोलियम उत्पादों की कीमतों में वृद्धि मुद्रास्फीति की दर में 0.41% की वृद्धि का नेतृत्व करेगी। पहले, 25 फ़रवरी हो हुए आर्थिक सर्वेक्षण मे चेतावनी दी है कि कुल कीमतों मे और अगले कुछ महीनों में वृद्धि होगी। यह भी आंशिक रूप से दो अंकों खाना मुद्रास्फीति के लिए गरीब खाना प्रबंधन की नीतियों को दोषी ठहराया। मुद्रास्फीति की दर पिछले सप्ताह में 17.97% पर थी।

He added that he would not hazard a guess on end-March inflation projections. But, however, he would expect food and aggregate inflation to trend down over the next two months. Earlier, the government stated that the tax proposals introduced by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee in his Budget for 2010-11 will marginally stimulate inflation. But, however, it would not put any pressure on interest rates. The FM had said that hike in the petroleum prices from February 27 would lead to 0.41% hike in inflation. Previously, the Economic Survey on Feb 25 cautioned that the total prices would rise further in the next few months. It also partially blamed poor food management policies for double-digit food inflation. Inflation was at 17.97% in the previous week.
