Cash strapped National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is now exploring measures to increase its revenue. NHAI is planning to hand over its toll collection segment to private players. NHAI has been suffering revenue losses due to lower toll collection. NHAI will now get private players with mechanized tolling facilities on board, which is at presently run by ex-servicemen. An inefficient toll collection is always the major problem bleeding the NHAI reserves. NHAI wants the companies to handle the toll collection for the roads, built by its own funds.
