वित्त मंत्री श्री प्रणव मुखर्जी ने 12 मई को कहा कि आने वाले महीनों में खुदरा मूल्य मुद्रास्फीति तेजी से नीचे आ जाएगा और आशा व्यक्त की कि देश अंतरराष्ट्रीय मुद्रा कोष द्वारा अनुमानित वृद्धि को पार कर जायेगा। उद्योग चैंबर सीआईआई की एक बैठक को संबोधित करते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि खाद्य वस्तुओं की कीमत गिर रहा है, मुद्रास्फीति उपभोक्ता मूल्य सूचकांक पर आधारित - औद्योगिक श्रमिकों (सीपीआई-आईडब्ल्यू) में तेजी से गिरावट की उम्मीद है। उन्होंने कहा कि सीपीआई आईडब्ल्यू के आधार पर औसत मुद्रास्फीति फरवरी और मार्च 2010 के महीने में 14.6 प्रतिशत था। उन्होंने कहा कि खुदरा कीमत आधारित मुद्रास्फीति के लिए मुख्य कारण खाद्य पदार्थों की वजह से है। दिसंबर के महीने में खाद्य मुद्रास्फीति, थोक मूल्यों पर आधारित , 20 प्रतिशत बढ़ा था लेकिन अब बाजार में ताजा फसलों के आगमन के कारण 16 फीसदी के आसपास है।
English Translation:
The Finance Minister, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee said on May 12 that in the coming months the retail price inflation would come down rapidly and hoped that the country would exceed the growth projected by the International Monetary Fund. While addressing a meeting of industry chamber CII, he said that as the price of the food items are declining there is expectation of rapid decline in inflation based on Consumer Price Index - Industrial Workers (CPI-IW). He said that the average inflation based on CPI-IW for the months of February and March 2010 was 14.6 per cent. He further said that the main reason for the retail price based inflation to be higher is mainly due to the food items which make up most of the index basket. In the month of December the food inflation, based on wholesale prices, had scaled 20 per cent but since then it has declined to around 16 per cent now due to arrival of fresh crops in the market.
