English Translation:
There seems to be no end to the cost escalation issue facing the Indian garment and apparel industry as cotton and yarn prices continue to rule substantially high on year-on-year basis and still increasing with no signs of any significant correction soon. The Industry has now threatened to go on a nationwide strike, the first ever of its kind, to force the government to address it issues. The Rs 55,000 crore worth textile industry which includes power loom, handloom, made-ups and apparel makers, has said that it would close down all units on Friday to draw the attention of the concerned union government functionaries, including the agriculture, commerce and textiles ministries.
