Gold prices plummeted on Tuesday on speculations that demand for the metal will cool as a safe haven after the US reported encouraging economic data that suggested the global economic recovery is gathering pace. The yellow metal prices plunged over three percent on massive profit-taking and a stronger US dollar. Gold futures for February delivery settled at $44.10 lower at $1,378.80 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange, whereas Spot gold declined $28.05 to $1,385.70 an ounce.
