English Translation:

India merchandise exports during the month of February 2011 registered a growth of nearly 50% to touch $23.59 billion. In terms of local currency, exports stood at Rs 107,215 crore, expanding nearly 47% on annual basis. In the same month of last year, exports stood at $15.75 billion (Rs 73002 crore). The strong growth seen in exports last few months has also raised overall performance of shipper over the last fiscal and has helped bring down the current account deficit as well. Cumulative value of exports for the period April-February 2010-11 stood at $208.22 billion (Rs 949,278 crore) as against $158.49 billion (Rs 753,384 crore) in the corresponding period of last fiscal year, registering a growth of 31.4% in dollar terms and 26.0% in rupee terms. Full fiscal exports are now expected to be close to $230 billion, about 15% higher than commerce ministry’s target of $200 billion for the fiscal.
