The markets today opened sharply lower with a heavy gap down on the back of negative cues from the global markets. All the sectorial indices are trading in red in the opening trade with the Banking, IT and Metal stocks are the worst hit. The broader indices are also trading lower in the opening trade.
The BSE Sensex is now trading below the 11,850 mark and the NSE Nifty below the 3,600 mark in the early trade.
The BSE Sensex was down by 205.73 points at 11,813.92 and the Nifty was down by 53 points to 3,582.25.
The BSE Mid Cap decreased by 23.96 points to 3,717.49 and the BSE Small Cap fell by 26.82 points to 4,193.39.
The overall market breadth is negative as 360 stocks are advancing while 995 stocks are declining on BSE.
