With a perspective to widen the business, Ashok Leyland is eyeing to invest around Rs. 2,000 crore during the next 2 years. Mr. R Seshasayee, MD of Ashok Leyland said that during the last financial year (2009-10), the capex incurrence was Rs. 810 crore and investments in (Joint Ventures) JVs were at Rs. 142 crore. He said that the investment of Rs. 2,000 crore would be made during the next 2 years, where planned capex incurrence would be Rs. 1,200 crore and investments in JVs would be around Rs. 800 crore. He said that the developmental activity for all the JVs are on schedule and the first batch of Light Commercial Vehicle (LCVs) products as part of the JV with Nissan Motor Company would roll out by early next year.
