Life Insurance Corporation (LIC), the country''s largest insurance house and investor, invested a sum of Rs 192,000 crore in FY 09-10 in the Indian markets. As we see the disinvestment moves made by the government, LIC has an opposite view. LIC has made major investment as a part of their strategy assuming it to be a greater importance in present times. Chairman of LIC, T S Vijayan said that the total premium collection is estimated to be around Rs 2,00,000 crore and the investment will depend on the type of money flow and the collection form ULIPs. In terms of IPOs and FPOs, LIC has played a vital role mainly in terms of public sector undertakings, including this year where it plans to play a significant role and says it will prefer the primary route to enter the markets.
