English Translation:

Sterlite Energy’s proposed Initial Public Offer (IPO) has got an IPO Grade of 4/5 from rating agency CRISIL. The grade assigned to Sterlite Energy reflects CRISIL Equities view that the current power deficit in India coupled with sustained economic growth will fuel power demand, creating ample opportunities for companies in power generation. The grade factors in the cost competitive advantage of the Jharsuguda project due to its low-capital cost and proximity to fuel source. Earlier, it had filed a draft red herring prospectus with SEBI for an initial public offering to raise up to Rs 5,100 crore. The IPO proceeds will be used to part finance these projects. Kotak Mahindra Capital, Enam Securities, JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley are the global coordinators and book running lead managers to the issue. The company is involved in commercial power generation and is currently developing two thermal power projects in Jharsuguda (Orissa) and Talwandi (Punjab), with a combined capacity of 4,380 mw. The company had recently commissioned the first unit (of the four units) of 600 MW of the Jharsuguda project; the full project is expected to be operational by August 2011.
