Copper witnessed yet another rally on Friday and jumped to a record crest well beyond $10,000 per tonne level underpinned by good US employment report that showed that unemployment drifted to its lowest rate since April 2009. The red metal prices soared despite the appreciation seen in American dollar against a basket of currencies on expectations of improving demand prospects for the commodity on supply shortages and market deficits this year. Copper futures for March delivery surged 0.50 cents to end at $4.5795 per lb, after touching yet another all time high level of $4.6140 per lb earlier in the session on the Comex metals division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper for three-month delivery on the London Metal Exchange soared $120 to $10,050 a tonne.
