JSW Steel has reported a 9 per cent growth in its crude steel production for January, 2011. The production of crude steel increased to 5.80 lakh tonnes in January, 2011 as compared to 5.33 lakh tonnes in January, 2010 indicating a 9% growth. The production of flat rolled products increased to 4.62 lakh tonnes in January, 2011 as compared to 3.34 lakh tonnes in January, 2010 up by 39%. However, the production of long rolled products decreased by 10% to 0.91 lakh tonnes in January, 2011 as compared to 1.01 lakh tonnes in January, 2010. JSW Steel is part of the $3.7 billion diversified conglomerate JSW Group. JSW Steel is one of the largest Indian private sector steel companies. It manufactures wide range of products such as hot rolled steel, cold rolled steel, galvanised steel and pre-painted galvanised steel. JSW Steel has reported a decline of 25.66% in net profit after tax to Rs 382.30 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2010 against Rs 514.23 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2009. Total income for the quarter stood at Rs 5815.44 crore, up 23.31% over Rs 4716.05 crore for the year ago period.
