English Translation :
Copper prices plunged by around a percent on Monday as investors squared off positions from the growth sensitive commodity after reports that manufacturing in New York State contracted for the fifth month in a row in October. Sentiments got undermined after Germany warned against any definitive solution to the Europe’s debt turmoil by October 23 while the strength in US dollar too exrted pressure on the metal. The downside for red metal prices was limited by reports that Freeport stopped copper production at its giant Grasberg mine in Indonesia because of security fears and worker blockades. Copper futures for December delivery sank by 3.05 cents or 0.9% to settle at $3.3780 per lb on the Comex metals division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper for three-month delivery on the London Metal Exchange surged $50 to end at $7,495 a tonne.
