सोने की कीमतों के अंत में छह सत्र की गिरावट रुकी और 2011 के अंतिम ट्रेडिंग दिन पर करीब दो प्रतिशत तक बढीं जबकि पीली धातु भी कैलेंडर वर्ष के लिए विदाई बोली स्वभावतः 10% की दर के आसपास बढ़ी और यूरो क्षेत्र के ऋण संकट और वैश्विक आर्थिक विकास की सहजता पर लगातार चिंताओं के बावजूद अपने ग्यारहवाँ सीधा वार्षिक लाभ दर्ज किया। बुलियन कीमतों में शुक्रवार को हाल की गिरावट की प्रवृति के बाद आशावादी निवेशकों की सौदेबाजी शिकार पर लेने से वृद्धि हुई है। कोमेक्स व्यापार नए साल की छुट्टी के कारण सोमवार को बंद होगा।

Gold prices finally halted the six session downtrend and surged close to two percent on last trading day of 2011 while the yellow metal also bid adieu to the calendar year in style by surging around 10% y-o-y and registered its eleventh straight annual gain despite the persistent worries over Euro-zone debt crisis and easing global economic growth. The bullion prices gained on Friday as optimistic investors took to bargain hunting after the recent streak of declines. Comex trading will be shut on Monday on account of New Year's holiday.

Gold futures for February delivery soared $25.90 or 1.7% to settle at $1,566.80 an ounce after trading as high as $1,562.80 and as low as $1,523.90 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange, whereas the spot gold prices climbed $20.9 to $1,566.40 an ounce.
